Canadian-Made Video Games Once Again Showcased to the World at E3
Published June 15, 2010
Canada is the globe’s third-largest video game producing country with hundreds of world class companies continuing to benefit from the Canadian advantage.
“The Canadian-made video games presented at E3 are showing the exceptional creativity and innovation of our industry in Canada,” said Danielle Parr, Executive Director of the Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC). “Many of the hottest titles at the show come from Canada’s vibrant game development community. Canadians export more than maple syrup and great hockey players. We produce some of the best video games in the world,” she added.
In 2009, Canada’s video-game industry accounted for more than $2 billion in retail sales of entertainment software and hardware, generating $1.7 billion in direct economic activity to the Canadian economy. The Canadian industry employs over 14,000 people and is continuing to grow at record pace.
E3 is the preeminent trade show for the global interactive entertainment industry. The expo brings together the developers, publishers, buyers, venture capitalists and media moguls of the entertainment software world, and showcases the latest competitive products and trends. This year’s expo takes place from June 15-17 at the Los Angeles Convention Centre.
The ESAC is the voice of the dynamic and growing video and computer game industry in Canada. Association members include the nation’s leading interactive entertainment software developers and publishers including Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard, Microsoft Canada, Nintendo of Canada, Sony Computer Entertainment, Disney Interactive Studios, THQ and Take Two Interactive, as well as distributors Solutions2Go and Team One Marketing.
